Seroquel

Seroquel Side Effects

SeroquelSeroquel has been known to lead to blood sugar disturbances—hypo- and hyperglycemia. This can cause a variety of other debilitating side effects, like pancreatitis, diabetes, coma or ketoacidosis.

Good reason for Seroquel lawsuits
The FDA issued an alert in April 2005 that Seroquel and other second-generation antipsychotics are linked to a higher risk of death in older patients taking it to treat dementia, a condition for which the drug is not FDA-approved. It is for such reasons that more than 350 Seroquel lawsuits were filed in Delaware in just one month—April 2007.

Seroquel has been known to lead to blood sugar disturbances.

People taking Seroquel for a long time are at a significant risk of developing the incurable neurological disorder tardive dyskinesia.

Seroquel and neuroleptic malignant syndrome
The rare, but life-threatening condition known as neuroleptic malignant syndrome may also result from use of Seroquel. Typically, the first symptom of neuroleptic malignant syndrome is muscular rigidity, leading to high fever and changes in cognitive functions.

Patients taking Seroquel who suffer neuroleptic malignant syndrome may have unstable blood pressure, confusion, delirium and muscle tremors. These Seroquel symptoms rapidly progress and may reach peak intensity in as little as three days.

Weight gain is sometimes a problem for patients using Seroquel, by causing the patient’s appetite to persist even after meals. It is slightly less dramatic than with Zyprexa, but many people taking Seroquel have noted this side effect.
